Janáček Theater was built in 1961-65, but the history of its origin is much longer. Between 1910 and 1958, a total of seven architectural competitions took place, in which more than one and a half hundred designers took part before it was decided on its form. This completed many years of efforts to build an independent representative building of the Czech theater, searching for space, resources and an architectural solution.
The monumental building, partly surrounded by a city park, bearing the hallmarks of traditionalism, intended primarily for large opera and ballet performances of classical and modern repertoire, was inaugurated on October 2, 1965. The auditorium is arranged as a stepped amphitheater. The capacity of the theater hall is 1,055 seats and is used for conferences, concerts and other ceremonial meetings. However, in addition to the admirable building, the theater also forms its background. Since 2015, the theater has gradually undergone several reconstructions, during which both the building itself and the technical equipment were repaired.
During these reconstructions, Drivecontrol supplied the electrical part of the upper and lower mechanics, including the control system and control panels.
